Menu Update 2-23-10

pei mussels – white wine garlic broth | lardons | 7.95

Garofoli Verdicchio   Marche, Italy 6.75

from the middle of the east coast of italy.  smells a little like a fuzzy navel. you know, oj and peach.  the salty ocean air comes through on the palate.

local romaine caesar salad – white anchovies | pickled shallots | 6.95

Bex    Reisling    Phalz, Germany 6.50

trocken or dry german reisling. good fruit and a touch of minerality.  there is so much great german riesling made dry, but we see so little of it, because importers want us to think of german riesling as sweet.

flatbread of the evening – tomato thyme spread | manchego | balsamic reduction | 7.95

Galea Schiava   Alto Adige, Italy 7.00

so light in color that it could almost be confused with rose.  native to alto adige this grape is pinot noir with a little less fruit and a creamy kick.

local cane creek sliders – swiss gruyere | 9.95

Domaine de la Guilloterie    Cabernet Franc   Saumur, France 7.00

smoked herbed cherries…cause you’ve had those before, no? ok me neither. this is food wine.  don’t judge before you’ve had a bite to eat with this one.

country pate – lingonberry compote | green peppercorn mustard | 8.95

Domaine des Rozets    Coteaux du Trincastin   Southern France 6.00

southern french but not too juicy.  nice balance. it has all the elements you would expect but none of them too overpowering.

six plates cheese plate – 10.95

Arbanta Rioja   Bargota, Spain 7.00

100 % tempernillo.  A very international style of wine, meaning it is a bit fruity for rioja, but a real crowd pleaser.  if you are looking for something easy to drink, you have found it here.

truffle frites…6.95

olive plate…3.95

apple tart -  maple view farms vanilla ice cream | 6.50

Cantine Ceci  Dry Lambrusco   Emilia, Italy

slightly effervescent red wine. typically a little sweetness.  this fresh fruit and pretty crisp.
