Menu Update 1-11-10

split pea soup – local country ham | nc fried “head on” shrimp | 6.95

Chateau de la Chesnaie   Muscadet Loire Valley, France 8.00

typically wonderful muscadet from one of the most prominent areas for muscadet production in the loire valley.  mineral and bone dry is what you will find in this wine.

flatbread of the evening – winter green | gorgonzola | champagne gastrique | local pecans | 7.95

Quinta do Caneiro   Arinto-Fernao Pires Alenquer, Portugal 6.00

two grapes you have most likely never heard about.  unlike vinho verde this is a vinho branco.  there is a creaminess to this wine that I have not experienced in a lot of white wine from portugal. still so refreshing.

roasted local heirloom tomato salad – arugula | baby fennel | caciocavallo silan | 7.95

Vi D’Agulla   Rosato  Penedes, Spain 6.50

rosato with berry and a bit of effervescence. refreshing as can be. slow down when drinking this one as it goes down so easy.

truffled shells and cheese – truffled italian cheeses | local broccoli | 7.95

Sant Evasio   Barbera d’Asti   Piemonte, Italy 6.50

typical asti barbera. less fruit more acid…great balance at a great price. cherry, cherry, cherry.

local seared grass fed cane creek sirloin –  sautéed mustard greens | roasted potatoes | 11.95

Eric Texier Cotes du Rhone   Vaison la Romaine   Rhone Valley, France 8.50

a blend much like the rhone blends…lots of carignan, grenache and syrah.  a little unusual from a blend of these grapes as this wine is a little lighter with raspberry and currant characteristics.

six plates cheese plate – 10.95

Tiera   Zinfandel Dry Creek, California 7.50

a new type of wine from california.  the guy who makes this wine is reinventing the lesser priced balanced california wine from the 1980’s.  I am really excited about this type of wine being made in cali again.

the “tenured” lamby joes…8.95

truffle frites…6.95

olive plate…3.95

local white poached pear -  housemade  mascarpone ice cream |  housemade granola | 6.95

Quinta do Infantado   White Port   Portugal 3oz 6.00

gentle sweetness with a touch of tangerine, this port comes off just as you would it expect a port of its age to come off, young and lighter than its older brothers

flight of gelato |  choose a total of three flavors | ask your bartender for flavor choices |  3.95
